Insight into the Roots of Southern Africa South Africa Today, South Africa is a country where the people keep their traditions and honor their ancestors. The people are very loyal and proud of their roots. If they move into the city or away from their village, most return for marriage and initiation rituals. Although these tribes have adopted many technologies of Western societies, they still practice the old techniques of basket, pottery and bead making. Most of these items are sold to the large tourist industry with a touch of the new era in them.
